Vancouver's first annual Canary Soap Box Derby will be held at Gastown on Sunday September 21, 2008. Organized by the Canary Foundation and BC Cancer Foundation, the event is an opportunity for the Vancouver technology community to help support early detection cancer research.

Vancouver technology companies are being challenged to design and build soap box cars that will be raced by CEOs to the historic Steamclock in Gastown. There will be great prizes for top fundraisers and fastest racers. Funds raised through the Canary Derby will be donated to the BC Cancer Foundation to support early cancer detection research.

Don Listwin, Silicon Valley veteran and founder of the Canary Foundation, will be in Vancouver to launch the event, which has been a big success in Victoria for the past two years.

As a partner of the event, the BC Technology Industry Association is encouraging tech companies to get involved in what promises to be a fun day of soap box car racing.
